Obituary of Snowball Singh

Snowball Thompson-Singh was a beloved pet and family member for 15 years. He came to us as an unexpected gift in 2009, growing with us and giving us something to care for and giving us a sense of peace. If you had a plate of food or a cup of water, you had to watch out for Snowball. Nothing could stop him from drinking from your glass once he swooped in. Snowball was like an alarm system. He knew when someone was on the way home and he let everyone know with his constant coos until the door opened. He didn’t care for toys, but a mirror to see himself kept him busy most days. It was a joy to watch him bobbing to his reflection. He found a friend in Maxine, our rabbit, when she joined the family and would perch near her often. Losing Snowball was a blow to all who knew him and knew of him. If you never got a chance to meet him, you certainly heard him when you spoke to one of us on the phone. “What’s that?” was a common question when you weren’t quite aware of him and his ability to sound off loudly trying to get the attention back on him. We miss Snowball and if you listen closely, you can still hear his coo and wings flapping as if he still flies around leaving bird seed and feathers for us to clean up. We like to think that we chose him, but he chose us, and we are glad that he did.
