I remember the day I came home and there she was. Wagging tail and no stop licking..the years of chasing squirrels and slipping out of her collar. Cory I miss you and i cry when I think about you, I love you and I'll miss you forever.

Baton Rouge, LA March 2001, a tiny, black little ball of fur is brought home. My son Christopher looks at her and said, "You got a puppy? I'm not going to love it". He starts playing with her, she's licking him and loving on him, we start throwing out names; Christopher said "Let's name her Cory. I know a girl at school named Cory, we call her Licker because she goes up to people and licks them." I'm thinking, who is this girl? lol but liked the name, so Cory she became. Within a few weeks I hear my son talking to her; you're my girl, you're a good dog, I love you. Ah-ha! He was smitten.
Cory loved being outside in the backyard, chasing squirrels, birds; she'd belly crawl and try to pounce on them but they always got away. Then there was her nemesis, the black squirrel. He'd stand in front of the picture window in the living room and tease her constantly, she'd bark, and bark, running from side to side hoping to get him.
Then there was the time Thanksgiving 2004 we let her out in the back and she started running after something, bent her head down quickly and came back up. I noticed something hanging out the side of her mouth and thought it was a piece of grass, it started moving! I'm yelling at her, drop it, drop it; she opened her mouth and out came a mouse. We called her mouse mouth for a while. lol
My baby girl lived a full life; travelled to MS, TN, OH, made many friends at the Bark Parks, loved car rides and walks, playing in the snow, and food! Cory never met a piece of food she didn't like, even lettuce. She left peacefully at home at the ripe old age of 17 years, 2 months. I'm so thankful to have been a part of her life. I miss her but know she is happy and enjoying her second life over the rainbow bridge, pain free. Until I see you again ole girl, I love you! ❤❤❤
